  • September 2023: Dr. Rahmati hosted a panel on young professional development and early careers at the IEEE/MTS Oceans 2023 conference in Mississippi.

  • April 2023: Congratulations to PhD student Ananya Hazarika, a student in the ICAS Lab, for receiving a Departmental Award for Outstanding Leadership in Women in Engineering. This award was given for her active contributions as the President of IEEE Women in Engineering.

  • March 2023: Dr. Rahmati has been appointed as the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society's Underwater Acoustics Technology Committee Co-Chair for 2023-2024.

  • September 2022: Congratulations to PhD student Ananya Hazarika, a student in the ICAS Lab, for completing the Doctoral Qualifying Exam with great performance!

  • May 2022: Ananya Hazarika, a PhD student at the ICAS Lab, has been named as the President of the IEEE Women in Engineering at Cleveland State University.

  • April 2022: ICAS Lab hosts an invited talk on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 4pm (EST) via Zoom. The speaker, Dr. Michael Ramalho (IEEE Senior Member), will talk about “Acoustic Communications in Reverberant Rooms”. Email us for free registration.

  • March 2022: The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) New York Chapter hosts a talk from Dr. Rahmati on Tuesday, March 29, at 7pm (EST) about the key capabilities and challenges in integration of terrestrial networks and extreme environments. The event is co-hosted by other 43 IEEE ComSoc chapters.

  • January 2022: A funded PhD position is available for Fall 2022. Please attach an updated CV, a sample publication (such as a paper, report, or thesis), TOEFL/IELTS and GRE scores, and a cover letter including research interests. Qualified candidates are expected to have a strong background in mathematics, communications, and programming. 

  • January 2022: Dr. Rahmati is the recipient of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) Young Professionals Award for 2022-2023. He will be fully included in the leadership of the OES for the following two years.

  • January 2022: Dr. Rahmati has developed a new course on 5G about the use cases and architecture of eMBB, mMTC, URLLC, as well as 5G NR air interface physical layer and core network design, and mmWave communications. Training workshops can be provided for interested industrial participants and engineers. Please email Dr. Rahmati, if you are interested.

  • October 2021: Job Opening: Postdoctoral Position (Open until filled): Highly motivated applicants with a PhD in “Electrical Engineering, Communications Systems” are encouraged to apply. The qualified candidate should have an outstanding academic and research record, a strong background in math and optimization, and a deep knowledge of communications theory. A one-page research proposal, CV, and at least two first-authored journal papers are required and should be submitted. Previous proposal writing experience is preferred. The candidate should be able to demonstrate their commitment and passion for research, as well as a collaborative work ethic and great communication skills. This program is planned to be finished in 12 months; however it can be extended for another 12 months if funding is available.

  • January 2021: The CSU Center for Human Machine Systems (CHMS) hosts a talk from Dr. Rahmati on Tuesday, 01-19-2021, at 1pm. The talk will explore the application of “Wireless Communications for Dynamic Interaction with Underwater Vehicles”.

  • October 2020: The CSU chapter of ACM will be hosting a talk from Dr. Rahmati on Friday, 10-30-2020, at 5pm on Exploring the Futuristic Underwater Internet of Things.
